Z-CORP’S OASIS OF HOPE

Oasis Water Company, a Zubair Corporation Group Company, committed to helping children’s charities has joined forces with the British School-Muscat’s (BSM) Sixth Form Fundraising Committee and together they will hold a sold-out charity fashion show on March 10.  H.E. Dr. Noel Guckian, the British Ambassador, will host the event.

The event has so far raised a record of over 17,000 OMR to benefit the children cancer wards at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) Hospital and the Royal Hospital, the Special Care Baby Unit at Khoula Hospital, Al Noor Association for the Blind, and PETRA, a new charity institution.

“I am absolutely thrilled,” said Nadia Megnin, Head of Sixth Form (BSM) and chief organiser. “This event has already raised funds beyond expectations. This is a brilliant example of local businesses and students working together, having tremendous fun and making a difference for others with specific needs. Oman Oasis and Oxiplus helps our community spring to life.”  Business International Group (BIG), also a Zubair Corporation Group Company, participated in the fund raising as the main event management team.

In 2009, The Zubair Corporation (Z-Corp) and BSM raised over 11,000 OMR for the children cancer wards at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) Hospital and the Royal Hospital. Last year’s funds bought, “A cytaphresis machine used for children experiencing respiratory distress while undergoing chemotherapy. This year, SQU hospital is planning to purchase a Paediatric Ultrasound machine for the oncology ward,” said Dr. Yasser Wali, Head of Paediatrics at SQU Hospital.

“Clearly, The Zubair Corporation and their companies are committed to making a real difference through their charitable work. Working alongside Oasis Water Company and Business International Group, we have endeavoured to meet a genuine need in the community. Oman Oasis and Oxiplus are endeavouring to bring good health to many and developing excellent relationships within our community,” Nadia said.

BSM students have also organised a charity “Walkathon” again sponsored by Oman Oasis and Oxiplus. This is scheduled for Friday 5th March. Everyone is welcome to participate. The walkathon will begin at 4pm in PDO, next to the recreational centre.
